Senior Consultant at Thomson Reuters, Washington, DC

Work with Thomson Reuters thought leaders and client services teams to develop and implement norms and innovative analytic consulting solutions for broad application across the employer and health plan client base. Serve as team leader and team member on ACRS projects with a focus on healthcare financial analysis including actuarial, mathematical and statistical projects.
  • Support development and dissemination of innovative consulting solutions to drive value add revenue.
  • Work collaboratively across ACRS Practice Leadership and client services to execute consulting projects
  • As appropriate, take lead in scoping, budgeting, execution and delivery of consulting projects
  • Analytical ownership of complex projects inclusive of projects with a statistical or financial focus.
  • Support development of norms and respond to or direct the fulfillment of ad hoc norms requests
  • Drive use of best practice analytic tools and methods.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in MarketScan norms creation and one or more other areas of healthcare, including healthcare financial consulting
  • Serve as technical expert in key applications (e.g., Advantage Suite, DataProbe, Access, Excel, SAS) and Benefit Modeler
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with client teams, product management, sales, marketing and training groups.
  • Support new sales and marketing efforts (e.g., proposal development, SME input for RFP responses)
  • Interact professionally with external as well as internal clients.
Examples of responsibilities:
  • Identify and develop proactive analyses from news reports.
  • Develop revenue generating approaches to solve existing issues facing the Employer and /or Health Plan clients adding thought leadership value to our clients.
  • Develop approaches and or solutions to proactively address issues that our clients will face in the future.
  • Supervise analysts in creation of ad hoc norms

  • Bachelors' degree in Health Administration, Economics, Information Systems,  Experimental Psychology, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics or related field or equivalent education and experience.
  • Familiarity with typical healthcare financial reporting.
  • 3-5 years work experience in healthcare analysis and/or consulting.
  • Demonstrated ability to convey complex analytic, mathematical, financial or statistically significant information and ideas in an easily understood manner to aid audience through written or verbal communications.
  • Outstanding project management skills.
  • Experience in data evaluation, database development.
  • Experience in applying health analysis methods and measures utilizing basic statistical methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand industry issues and problems, relate them to clients needs, and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and outstanding presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of decision support theory and practice, applied in a healthcare environment.
  • Proven successes working with clients.
  • Willingness to travel.
