Thomson Reuters Management Information Systems (MIS) team is an exciting and dynamic organization within Thomson Reuters that provides systems support, project management, enhancements, quality assurance services, and consultation for the selection, development, and implementation of corporate business systems.The MIS Acceptance group is a centralized QA center of excellence within the broader MIS team. The group provides both systems and business testing services across all Thomson Reuters corporate business systems, partnering closely with other MIS technology teams as well as business stakeholders to help ensure the quality and integrity of systems and new system releases. MIS Acceptance provides application release quality through centralization, standardization of tools and processes, project management, execution, governance, and best practices. The scope spans 300+ corporate business systems used worldwide including key major applications such as SAP and SFDC.
The QA Test Lead will manage the quality assurance process for multiple MIS systems and projects, initially focusing on the Workday HR System initial implementation and rollout. This is a large scale, high visibility, high impact project with aggressive timelines that will impact every Thomson Reuters business unit and employee world-wide. Responsibilities will include developing the overall test plan to ensure quality of the end-to-end solution, including system, performance, regression, UAT, and parallel testing. The Test Lead will also provide cross-functional coordination and support to business and business system related initiatives, with emphasis on process improvement, managing system changes, training, documentation and implementation.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
- Participate on Enhancement teams; participate in all phases of approved enhancements; ensure a full, consistent understanding of enhancements by all stakeholders from a testing perspective
- Participate in Sizing process for key initiatives
- Participate in Release Planning for key initiatives
- Develop overall project test plans including
- System / Integration test plans
- End-to-End test plans
- Test Data Management plans
- UAT plans
- Review and approve test artifacts, including test cases, test data and test results
- Manage and perform system, integration, and end-to-end tests
- Plan, coordinate, and drive business stakeholders through UAT phase
- Manage corresponding defect resolution and triaging
- Ensure test environment readiness
- Produce and communicate test status
- Manage related issues and risks
- Act as a primary contact for MIS and business personnel to coordinate the resolution to problems arising during business system initiatives by facilitating the issue, change and defect management process and maintain associated logs
- Build strong relationships remotely and quickly with TR business units and leadership, globally, to ensure project success
- Have a strong understanding of applicable company processes and technology
- Maintain a strategic understanding of Thomson Reuters business system initiatives and functions
- Develop and manage close partnerships with senior level technical and business leaders worldwide
- Drive the implementation of standard QA tools and processes supporting business testing while ensuring consistency and improved quality
- Stay current with new technologies, platforms, development methodologies and business processes to recommend and influence effective use of testing practices
- Look across departments for process and technical improvement opportunities; lead and/or participate on teams to drive, identify problems and implement solutions and controls
Previous Experience
- College degree in related technical/business area
- 8+ years of related business experience
- Strong understanding and background in Quality Assurance industry best practices.
- Experience in systems implementation and process redesign
- Experience with HR systems or Workday specifically a plus
- Leadership skills
- Management skills (work planning, execution monitoring and reporting)
- Understanding of SDLC process
- Understanding of the test lifecycle and phases
- Understanding of test methodologies and tools
- Knowledge of planning test execution according to TR and industry standards
- Knowledge of defect and change management processes
- Knowledge of test automation tools and techniques
- Understanding of all types (BR, SR, SD, Workflow) of requirements
- Understanding of test case traceability in Quality Center
- Well rounded understanding of technology, business operations and processes, with focus on outcomes and optimization
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships across business and cultural boundaries
- Experience with Workday HR Application a plus
- Experience with PeopleSoft HR Application a plus
